The Story of Organic Chemistry

The search for a truly clean product line started when Alan opened Sprout, an Organic Salon, in Baltimore in 2006. At the time, Sprout was one of the first organic salons in the country and it was nearly impossible to find a line of haircare and styling products that met Sprout's standards for both organic quality and efficacy.

While there were many haircare lines that called themselves "organic" or "natural", upon closer inspection, they were using unsafe ingredients (or unsustainable methods) that were not being transparently communicated. All of that went against our ethics and our mission. Not only did we want to provide a safe, clean, effective experience for our clients and staff, but we wanted to set a precedent for other organic salons and for the industry as a whole, to move toward using cleaner, more effective, more sustainable products and practices.

The development of our own product line became a necessity in order to offer our clients an organic experience that we could proudly stand behind.

After many years of research, development and in-salon testing of our own proprietary formulas, we launched our full professional line of haircare and styling products in 2015, hand-crafted in small batches, in our own factory.

Organic Chemistry is a more than a haircare product line. It's a hair health philosophy that proudly reflects our uniquely high standard for organic quality, sustainable business practices, and efficacy.
